2017 Bra Day

Immediately following a mastectomy, many women choose to undergo breast reconstruction surgery to restore the look of natural breasts. But did you know that a recent study showed that only 33% of patients were informed of their options for breast reconstruction before undergoing a mastectomy?

Breast reconstruction can be a transformative procedure for women who’ve lost breast tissue to cancer removal surgery, but the truth is, the majority of breast cancer patients aren’t aware that it’s even an option. In light of this, Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day was started with the aim of informing women about their options so they can be fully in control of their recovery from breast cancer.

To celebrate this important day, Dr. Kamakshi Zeidler has partnered with Cancer CAREpoint to host her sixth annual BRA Day event.

BRA Day 2017: You’re Invited!

Join Dr. Kamakshi Zeidler and Cancer CAREpoint on October 12 as they celebrate BRA Day at Hotel Valencia, located at 355 Santana Row, San Jose, CA 95128. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Registration to attend the sixth annual BRA Day event is $30 per person, and $60 if you’d like to participate in the bra decorating contest, which will have a celebrity judge panel, including World Cup Champion Brandi Chastain. All proceeds from the event will go to CAREpoint.

Women

Why Celebrate BRA Day?

Although more and more women have taken a proactive approach to their breast health in recent years thanks to Breast Cancer Awareness month, many women are still not aware of their treatment options during breast cancer recovery. The goal of BRA Day is to spread awareness so that women are informed about the full range of possibilities offered by breast reconstruction surgery.

This year’s BRA Day will be focused on educating and supporting women going through breast cancer. Dr. Zeidler will be sharing exciting information about the latest developments in breast cancer research, and guests will also have a chance to see technological advancements in breast reconstruction surgery through demonstrations. The event will also feature a special presentation by Dr. Pamela Munster, Professor of Medicine and Co-Program Leader at the Center for BRCA Research at UCSF, who will be speaking about recent advancements in treating patients with breast cancer gene mutations.

To celebrate the resilience of those affected by breast cancer, Dr. Zeidler recently held a special photo shoot to capture the many women who are determined to thrive in their recovery. The BRA Day event will feature an inspiring showcase of these photos, allowing guests to see how breast cancer patients have found strength again after a difficult journey.

If you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer, join us on October 12 to empower women through education and awareness on BRA Day. If you have any questions about the event, or you’d like to learn more about your options for breast reconstruction surgery, contact Aesthetx at (408) 559-7177.
