How Do Surgeons Perform Ethnic Rhinoplasty?

Another Aesthetx innovation is the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in rhinoplasty procedures. PRP is a compound extracted from the patient’s blood that has proven benefits in wound healing and the body’s natural recovery process. With rhinoplasty, Dr. Zeidler uses PRP as an assistive ingredient that encourages healing and speeds recovery.

We perform our rhinoplasty procedures under general anesthesia, and they take between three and five hours. This timeframe is longer than is typical for the less precise rhinoplasty procedures performed by many plastic surgeons, and reflects the great care and incredible detail of our work. We also use magnification, fiber-optic lighting, and an open rhinoplasty technique to ensure the highest possible degree of control and precision.

What Can I Expect in Recovery?

You will be able to go home on the day of your surgery, but should arrange for a friend or family member to drive you. You will wear a cast for the first week to protect and shape your nose. We recommend that you stay home during this week to rest and recover. After we remove your cast, you can return to work or school, though you may need to tape your nose for another week, and you will have some residual swelling, soreness, and bruising. Around 80% of the swelling should resolve after six weeks, and a year after your surgery, all the swelling should disappear.
