Restore Radiance and Firmness

A croton oil peel is a deep chemical peel designed to smooth etched lines, repair significant sun damage, and refine skin texture. It stimulates robust collagen remodeling to reveal smoother, healthier, more youthful-looking skin with a more even tone.

Your treatment is customized by facial zone and skin type. Our team adjusts solution strength and application technique for areas like the upper lip, lower eyelids, and cheeks to achieve natural, even results. Full-face or regional treatments are available, and we’ll tailor the plan to your goals and downtime.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

  • Consultation and prep: We review your skin, medical history, and goals. You may start a short prep routine to prime the skin.
  • Anesthesia: Comfort is prioritized with local anesthesia plus oral or IV sedation, based on the treatment size. For those who prefer deeper sedation or for safety reasons in some patients, peels can be performed in the operating room under general anesthesia.
  • Zoning and planning: The face is divided into regions. Each zone receives a tailored concentration and number of passes to keep results even and natural.
  • Application: The croton oil-phenol solution is applied in controlled strokes. We watch for visual endpoints like uniform frosting and immediate skin tightening.
  • Layering: Areas with deeper etched lines, like the upper lip, may receive additional passes; delicate zones receive fewer passes.
  • Post-visit guidance: You leave with clear, written instructions on cleansing, occlusion, sun avoidance, and when makeup is allowed. Most full-face treatments take about 60-90 minutes in the office.

Benefits of a Croton Oil Peel

  • Softens deep, etched wrinkles (including smoker’s lines)
  • Smooths coarse texture and the look of enlarged pores
  • Improves blotchy pigmentation and sun damage
  • Delivers a more refined, “lifted” skin quality
  • Long-lasting results (years) from a single treatment

Recovery After a Croton Oil Peel

  • Days 1-3: Redness, warmth, and frosting evolve to bronzing; oozing/crusting are expected. Keep skin cleansed and well-occluded as directed.
  • Days 4-10: Active peeling and re-epithelialization. Avoid picking. Itch/tightness is common.
  • Weeks 2-6: Pink, sensitive new skin. Most patients can wear makeup 2 weeks after the peel.
  • Months 2-6+: Pinkness fades; lines, tone, and texture continue to improve as collagen remodels. On average, pinkness fades within 3 months.

Healing varies by depth, baseline skin, and adherence to aftercare.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Can you treat only certain areas?

Does a croton oil peel hurt?

You’ll be kept comfortable with appropriate anesthesia and medications. Although it looks as though this is a painful procedure throughout the healing phase, it usually is not. There are 8-9 hours of a burning, stinging sensation after application of the peel that generally subsides after the first post-peel day.

How long is the downtime?

Plan for 7-10 days of active healing before social downtime improves. Pinkness can persist for weeks and fades gradually.

Is it right for my skin tone?

Deep peels are best for lighter skin tones with a lower risk of pigment change. If you’re at higher risk, we’ll propose safer alternatives or tailored prep/post protocols.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Many patients see significant improvement after one peel. Sun protection and medical-grade skincare help maintain results.

Can you treat only certain areas?

Yes. We can focus on high-wrinkle zones (upper lip, lower eyelids, cheeks) with zone-specific strengths.
